The Royal Rajputana Detailed Itinerary
Day 01 : Arrive Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, you will be met by our representative and transferred to hotel. Overnight at hotel
Day 02:Delhi
Your sightseeing tour of the city would start with a visit to the (Birla Mandir) Laxminarayan Temple, built by one of India's foremost business families and dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the preserver. Proceed to the former centre of Moghul Power, Old Delhi that offers ancient monuments, narrow streets and bustling bazaars. Drive past the Red Fort, built in 1648 and board the 'cycle rickshaw' for a unique experience from the Red Fort, through "Chandni Chowk" or Silver Street, experiencing the sights and sounds of this very busy avenue-heading west from the Fort. Later visit the Jama Masjid, the greatest mosque in India and completed in 1658 by Shah Jahan who also built the Taj Mahal, and the Raj Ghat, the simple memorial to Mahatma Gandhi.
The afternoon you will be taken to visit New Delhi ? drive past the stately government buildings of the British Era designed by Lutyens, including the India Gate built in memory of the 85,000 Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during World War 1. Opposite the India Gate, is the massive Rashtrapati Bhawan, the official residence of the President of India. Continue on to Humayun`s Tomb of the Mughal era and Bahai Temple built like a lotus flower & dedicated to the Bahaii faith. End the tour at the towering minaret of Qutab Minar.

Day 03 : Delhi - Mandawa (250 kms)
Morning drive to Mandawa, the principal town of the Shekhawati region renowned for its splendid painted "Havelis" or mansions. You can wander through the streets where mansions of rich merchants are adorned with elaborate & lively frescoes, cataloging the life, habits/fashions of the Marwari community.

Day 04 : Mandawa - Bikaner (230 kms)
Morning drive to Bikaner. Upon arrival in Bikaner - check into the hotel. The desert town of Bikaner was founded in 1488 by Roa Bikaji, a descendant of the founder of Jodhpur, Jodhaji.
Visit the Junagarh Fort constructed between 1588 and 1593 by Raja Jai Singh, a general in the Moghul Emperor Akbar's army. Overnight at hotel
Day 05 : Bikaner - Khimsar (195 kms)
Morning drive to Khimsar. Upon arrival in Khimsar - check into the hotel. Afterwards, visit the Royal Castle built as a "Thikana" or fortified home of a local ruler. This was a remote 15ths Rajput stronghold in the Thar desert and is excellent for an escape into medieval Rajasthan. The battle scarred walls & turrets are a reminder of the glorious past of Khimasar.
Rest of the day at leisure to explore the surrounding areas. Overnight at hotel
Day 06 : Khimsar - Rohetgarh (115 kms)
Morning drive to Rohetgarh. Upon arrival in Rohetgarh - check into the hotel. Rohet is the fortified desert home of the descendants of the 16th century Rathore of the Champawat clan, Thakur Dalpat Singh I. Generations of valiant noblemen have built this heritage home where, notwithstanding the inroads of modernity, aristocratic values are respected.

Day 07 : Rohetgarh - Deogarh (140 kms)
Morning drive to Deogarh. Upon arrival in Deogarh - check into the hotel. Afterwards, visit the Deogarh Mahal that was built in 1670 A.D. The Mahal stands at a height of 2100 ft. above sea level with its bold battlements, domed turrets and balconies offering a commanding view of the surrounding Aravalli mountains and its rugged rock-strewn countryside dotted by a number of lakes. Run and restored by the family, the castle has a good collection of miniature paintings.

Day 08 : Deogarh - Udaipur (130 kms)
Morning drive to Udaipur enroute visit Ranakpur Temples. Ranakpur Temples ? the most magnificent 15th century Jain temples are situated in the deep secluded valley of the Aravalli Hills. Though over 500 years old, the temples here are superbly preserved in a near-perfect condition. The most distinctive features are the 29 halls supported by 1444 pillars, of which no two are exactly alike.
Continue drive to Udaipur and upon arrival - check into the hotel. Overnight at hotel
Day 09 : Udaipur
Morning city tour of Udaipur, one of India's most romantic cities and famed for its lovely palaces and lakes. Begin by visiting the City Palace and wandering through its beautiful rooms and apartments, then continue on to the Garden of Maidens "Sahelion-ki-bari".
Late afternoon boat ride on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. (Depending upon the water level of the Lake). Overnight at hotel
Day 10: Udaipur - Jodhpur (280 kms)
Morning drive to Jodhpur. Upon arrival in Jodhpur - check into the hotel. Overnight at hotel
Day 11 : Jodhpur - Pushkar (180 kms)
Morning city tour of Jodhpur ? visit the Meherangarh Fort which is still run by the former Maharajas of Jodhpur. The fort has a stunning collection of elephant howdahs, miniature paintings, and a huge tent made for the Mughals. Also visit Jaswant Thada, the white marble memorial to Maharaja Jaswant Singh II.
Afternoon drive to Pushkar. Upon arrival in Pushkar - check into the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 12 : Pushkar - Jaipur (140 kms)
Morning visit the famous Brahma Temple, said to be one of the few temples in the world dedicated to this deity. It's marked by red spire, and over the entrance gateway is the hans, or goose symbol, of Brahma, who is said to have personally chosen Pushkar as its site.
Afternoon drive to Jaipur. Upon arrival in Jaipur - check into the hotel. Overnight at hotel
Day 13 : Jaipur
Morning tour of the impressive Amber Fort, situated on a ridge just outside Jaipur City (approached in princely style on a caparisoned Elephant). The Fort, completed in the early 18th century, took over 100 years to build and now, although deserted, offers a fascinating insight into the lifestyle of the Moghul ruling families.
Afternoon city tour of Jaipur - visit the imposing City Palace, still home to the Maharaja although several of the rooms are now open to the public. Many antiques and artifacts belonging to the ruling family are housed here, including a collection of weaponry. You will also visit the Hawa Mahal "Palace of the Winds", and the open-air Jantar Mantar Observatory to see the vast astronomical instruments. Enjoy a stroll through the colourful bazaar before returning to your hotel. Overnight at hotel
Day 14: Jaipur - Agra (221 kms)
Morning drive to Agra, en route visit Fatehpur Sikri. Fatehpur Sikri is the deserted, red sandstone city that was built by Emperor Akbar as his capital and palace in the 16th century. Also visit the Bulund Darwaza the largest gateway in the world. Continue drive to Agra and check into the hotel.
Afternoon visit the famous Taj Mahal - This most famous Moghul monument was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal "the lady of the Taj". It has been described as the most extravagant monument ever built for love, for the emperor was heartbroken when Mumtaz died after 17 years of marriage, during the birth of her 14th child. (Taj Mahal is closed on Friday). Overnight at hotel
Day 15: Agra - Delhi (250 kms)
Morning visit Red Fort - lies on the bend of the river Yamuna, almost in the heart of the town. It was built by Akbar as his citadel over the years 1563-73 in the finest architectural style. It has imposing gates and walls of red sandstone and a moat.
Thereafter drive to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi - transfer to the international airport for your onward journey |
